The profile of many Facebook users are susceptible to security attacks because many spammers try to collect personal information of the users and use it for their spamming purposes.

Therefore, to make sure no one can get access to your personal data and information, Facebook has integrated a two-factor authentication Facebook and login alerts features to its security. This way, your account is well secured.

Whenever you log in to your Facebook account, you can use your mobile phone to verify your identity by either clicking on a texted / emailed link or typing in a code sent to your registered mobile number by the Code Generator tool in the Facebook app.

How to enable two-factor authentication Facebook from the web

 

Step 1:Click the drop-down arrow in the upper right corner from any Facebook page.

Step 2: Click Settings.

Step 3:On the left, click Security and Login.

Step 4: Near the bottom of the list in the Two-Factor Authentication section, click Edit next to Use two-factor authentication.

 Step 5: From here, you can choose to use an authentication app or SMS for receiving codes. 

Text messages are easier to use than authentication apps, but they are less secure.

Two-factor Authentication Facebook apps are more secure, but they are harder to use than text messages.

If you prefer SMS

Step 1: Click use text message.

Step 2: Select your phone number (or enter it if it's not already displayed).

Step 3: Enter the verification code sent to your phone.

Step 4: Decide if you want to get notifications about new posts, messages, etc.

Step 5: After that, you can then click on Finish.

If you would rather use authentication app for your security

1: Click use authenticator app.

2: Download an authenticator app.

3: Simply search your phones app store for "Authenticator", and download the one that you think would be a good fit for you.

4: Use your authenticator app to scan the QR code displayed.

If you can't scan the code for some reason, enter the code into the app that Facebook displays. Afterwards, follow the directions in the authenticator app to add the account.

5: Enter the code displayed by the app. This is to verify that the QR code was scanned correctly.

6: Type in your password (if prompted).

7: Then click Submit.

8: After that, just click Finish and you’re done!

Once enabled, you'll need to enter a generated code every time you sign into Facebook from a new device. This is a great way to prevent unauthorized access to your account.

How to enable two-factor authentication Facebook from your phone

 

The process of enabling two-factor authentication Facebook is just as easy on your phone as on the web, though depending on your authenticator app of choice, you may or may not be able to scan the provided QR code on the same device.

Step 1: Open the Facebook app and open the menu tab (the rightmost option in the navigation bar).

Step 2: Click on "Settings & Privacy".

Step 3: Select "Settings".

Step 4: Under Security, select "Security and Login".

Step 5: Under Two-Factor Authentication, click on "Use two-factor authentication".

Step 6: Choose either "Authentication App" or "Text Message (SMS)".

If you selected use two-factor authentication, you'll be prompted to scan the provided QR code. If your authentication app is unable to scan a code in a separate app, you can tap the code underneath to copy it to your clipboard, then paste it into the authentication app for manual setup.

1: Enter the confirmation code provided by either SMS or your authentication app.

2: After you've completed these steps, you should see a confirmation screen verifying that two-factor authentication is now enabled for your Facebook account.
